Welcome to Your Genealogy Gateway
For years Genealogy Gateway has acted as a conduit to genealogy information online. As the years have passed however, the backend of the site became restrictive to further development, making the old Genealogy Gateway obsolete. Today, I've created a new WEB 2.0 design and interface, with a clear mandate to once again become your gateway to genealogy online!
Tired of the same old sites, with the same old links and information? GenGateway will be built with the following goals in mind:
1) Weekly Updates.
Genealogy can become stale to most online researchers... I'm dedicated to
providing weekly updates on the newest genealogy sites and data online.
To quickly access this data, just visit this page weekly and look at the "new
Genealogy" below...
2) Genealogy Help
Most researchers just want data... and a lot of it. But what do you do
with that data once you find it? How can that data help you in your research?
It's not just about collecting names, it about recording your heritage! And
putting all the pieces together in the right place requires a skill set...
visit this area when you hit a brick wall in your research!
3) Uniqueness
What can I do to set myself a part from the other genealogy portals available
online. How can I present the genealogy data online in a user friendly and
interesting manner? Those two questions will be the backbone of how this site
is setup and presented to you. Please enjoy, and come back frequently!

History
of Dorchester, Massachusetts - Free
The "Committee of the Dorchester Antiquarian and Historical Society" have
done themselves and their society much honor, and the public a valuable
service, by the publication of the carefully prepared volume which bears their
Imprimatur. The first recorded evidence of the establishment of our present
town organizations that we have met with, is at ancient Dorchester, in 1633;
and the Free School System, which is the boast of New England, if not
initiated there, has not to our knowledge been proved to have existed
elsewhere at an earlier date. And the dates of the establishment of four
important manufactures in this town, carry with them a strong if not the
positive claim of Dorchester for the first production of two articles of

and one of civilization, viz., paper.

History of
Augusta County, Virginia - Free
A county remote from the first scenes of European settlement in Virginia;
not visited by whites until 1716; uncolonized till 1732, and organized less
than a century and a half ago, appears to offer few materials for history.
But that holds untrue. The history written by John Lewis Peyton delves
into the first 150 years of existence of Augusta County. Besides the rich
history, also provided for the genealogists are family genealogies,
biographies of important people, and marriage records covering the early
years of existence of the county.

While I'm re-building this website from the ground up, you're going to want to look at more data then what we presently have listed. So visit the following websites for access to the greatest amount of available genealogy online. Listed by quality first, and then size of collection. Feel free to join and use them all!
Ancestry
Ancestry has long had the largest collection of genealogy data online being an
early leader in subscription based genealogy. Because of its extensive census
images and indices, and its World War 1 Draft Cards, it has the best
collection at this time too. Its census images presently cover all available
federal US records, and contains extensive census images from Canada, UK,
Scotland, and Germany. This is a subscription based service, however you can
access the databases for the next 14 days for free by using their Free Trial
at Ancestry offer.

FootNote
FootNote is not nearly as large as Ancestry, but the quality of data goes
unsurpassed for American researchers. While FootNote started out as a history
based website, it has branched out into providing other types of genealogical
data. What makes it stand out in the genealogy community is the type of data
it provides. Its all images of original documents. There are no transcribed
databases, no genealogy books scanned... it's all original documents. They're
also making a concerted effort to add value to any subscription purchased, by
adding over 2 million new images each month. By number of people their size of
offering cannot compare with Ancestry. But if you find your ancestor in the
data they do provide, you will hit pay-dirt in the quality of the data.

WorldVitalRecords
World Vital Records is quickly establishing itself as a serious competitor
to Ancestry. It presently offers a basic collection of over 2,000 databases
and books, but is quickly branching out to include 1790-1920 census images for
the United States. With its present price point, this will have a serious
affect on Ancestry subscriptions. World Vital Records offers 2 years for
the price of one, and you can access it using this link:
